Procrastination is the Root of All Failure

Let me make this ridiculously clear. There is only one reason for failure, and that reason is procrastination. You cannot. And I repeat, you cannot become successful at anything if you procrastinate.

Why Do We Procrastinate?

Before I explain to you why we procrastinate, let me make something perfectly clear. Procrastination has nothing to do with you being a lazy or necessarily an irresponsible person because nobody procrastinates with everything! I want to keep this simple. The cause of procrastination is always based on some kind of “fear of failure”. That’s it. It is no more complicated than that:

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing
can be changed until it is faced.”
–James Baldwin

The solution is equally as simple. You must dogheadedly do whatever it is that you fear, and death of the fear is certain. This may not be something that you will accomplish all at once or even on the first few tries, but if you refuse to give up in your quest to end procrastination, you will end it.

The Procrastination of Perfectionism (Fear of Self-Criticism)
Proscrastination is triggered by the neurotic and insidious practice of perfectionism which says, “If I can’t do this perfectly, then I won’t do it at all."

How sick is that? What on earth can anybody do perfectly–as though a state of perfection somewhere existed on the earth. An offshoot of this irrational idea is putting onself in a perpetual "state pf getting ready".

The Procrastination of Overwhelm (Fear of Failure)
Proscrastination is that is triggered by overhwhelm says, “If I can’t do this easily, then I won’t do it at all.” My answer to this is “Anything worth doing is worth doing lousy. Just do something–anything! Make corrections later.” I’ve got a news bulletin. Life ain’t easy! Stuff happens. Problems arise. Difficulties exist. To hide from problems is to hide from life. You can never get it right before you start.

The Procrastination of Disapproval (Fear of Rejection)
PIf your hesistation to do what you must do is hinged upon the fact that others may or may not approve of what you do or may not like you if you do what you must do, then you will never by happy. It is not what others think of you. It is always about what you think of you! This is what defines an adult versus a child.
