The Law of gratitude is the law of happiness. There is always an immediate reward for gratitude and that reward is joy for that which we are thankful. If anyone wants a quick and guaranteed recipe for instant happiness, I say just count your blessings. This is no a new idea. Some might even say that it is just common sense, but again, how common is “common” sense? I would like to propose a methodical and very effective daily practice for you to reap the benefits of giving thanks.

Create a Gratitude Diary and Count Your Blessings One by One

I challenge you to practice what I am going to tell you for only 30 days, and I’ll bet you’ll get hooked on it and will not want to stop. You will begin to attract “good luck”, prosperity, health and peace of mind. For 30 days, either once in the morning or once in the evening, I want you to number, write down and record at least 10 things that you will recognize and be thankful of, no matter how “small” or how big on the surface it might seem. Life in itself is a miracle, and there are no insignificant things in God’s universe

First, I would like for you to go out to your nearest stationery or drug store and purchase a spiral notebook which you will used exclusively for your Gratitude Diary. If you want a suggestion in notebooks that I have found nice for this practice is the Mead® Five Star® Premier spiral notebook which measures about 6.75”wide x 9.5” high. It contains about 200 pages, and they usually come in an assortment of colors. My favorite color is blue.

You open the first page, and on the top line at the upper left hand side, you write the date. Skip a line, then in themiddle of the page, you write “Entries”.

Skip another line, and then begin to number all the good that happened to you during that day if you are recording before you go to bed, or you can record all the good that happened to you the day before or anything that you can recognize in your life right now, if you happen to be recording this upon awakening and before you start your day. It is alright is you repeat certain things again and again each day. That thing that you are repeating and writing over and over again will only tend to appear more and more in your life. I leave what you write and how often you write it up to you.

This is how I would suggest that you make your entries. Start out with the phrase, “I am grateful and thankful for...” After “for” at the elipsis, fill in whatever it is you would like to recognize:

1. I am grateful and thankful for the checker game I played with my 8 year old daughter.

2. I am grateful and thankful for the informative book I found on real estate
investing.

3. I am grateful and thankful for the 3 lbs. I lost through eating better.

4. I am grateful and thankful for the fragrance of honeysuckle through my
bedroom window each night.

5. I am grateful and thankful for my new patience with people. And so on and
so forth. You get the idea.

Remember, it is not how much you have but how much of that which you have that brings you happiness.

To be thankful for anything means that you are practicing the power of living in the present moment of time where all true life really is.
