You can't hit a target that you can't see, nor can you hit a target that doesn't exists. If you don't know where you want to arrive, how would you know when you got there? This is another way of saying that success is about the achievement of some predetermined (by you) goal, and all else is commentary. STEP #1: Write Down Your Goal A goal is not a goal until it is written down and reviewed on a daily basis. I would suggest that you first write down your goal in a spiral notebook and allow for space where you can record inspirations and ideas as they come along to achieve your goal. STEP #2: Write Down When You Expect to Obtain Your Goal This was covered or rather mentioned in Step #1. Even though you have a set a time frame in which you expect to achieve and receive this goal, it doesn't mean that the date of delivery is set in stone. You can always move the date further in the future if necessary as you learn more of the steps involved in its obtainment. STEP #3: Write Down The Obstacles in the Way of Achieving Your Goal The obstacles may be external such as not knowing how, the need for more money, the need for the right contacts, etc. The obstacles may also be internal such as your unwillingness to start and make some beginners' mistakes. STEP #4: Write Down A List of People and Organizations Who Can Help You You will need to seek out the help of people and organizations |

who are clearly experts in the matters of what you are seeking. STEP #5: Write Down A Plan of Action I have learned a long time ago that any plan is better than no plan at all. If you start with some type of blue print, experience and feedback, as long as you don't give up, will help you refine and improve your plan as you go. This is the way that is always works. STEP #6: Write Down What You Need to Know and to LearnI Once you start with some intelligent plan toward the achievement of your goal, it becomes very obvious what it is that you still need to know and to learn. And this is good, for once you can identify what you need to know, you can determine from whom do you need to learn, or what do you need to learn, and then quite systematically and logically go about your business of learning it. STEP #6: Write Down WHY This Goal is Important to You From a goal achieving perspective, all goals if they are to be achieved in spite of all obstacles which apppear along the way, have to be purely personal and something that you truly want for yourself. It should never be attempted to please someone else. You have to be sure that ladder that you are climbing is not leaning against the wrong wall. If the WHY is important enough and big enough, you will be willing to do whatever it takes in spite of all obstacles which arise to test your resolved along the way. If you needed to make a million dollars in 3 years to pay for the operation of your child who was dying of a rare illness or if you need to make a million dollars in 3 years because your dad said that this would make you a success, which would be a stronger WHY? And for which of these two situations would you place your bet on for achieving that million dollars at the end of 3 years? |
