How to Achieve Happiness Through Detachment |
||||||||
|
||||||||
Detachment means, you do your thing, and let God do His thing. Your job is to chose what you want, intend to have it, take action, and know that what you want will happen if you just stay positive and don’t overly worry about the details of the how of that which will happen much further down the line where you have no idea of what challenges you will need to face. At this point, you must learn to detach from a specific result. |

Whatever happens after you have done your part is what is given next for you to solve in the form of a problem which is really your next stepping stone. Even when you are climbing a sure stairway to the top, you tire. Each step after so many becomes an effort even if you know where it will end. Your job is to keep stepping up the spiral staircase even though the top pearces through the clouds before you are able to see it. Detach from the need to see everything all visible before you. The higher you climb, the more you see. You ability to detach
lies in your ability to have faith in something much greater than yourself.
You have boarded the plane. You just can’t fly the plane. God is
the pilot. You are the passenger. As long as you have paid for your ticket
with diligent planning and decisive action, you may get on |

board and find your seat. But when you hit an air pocket of turbulence and the plane starts to shake a little, you still must trust the pilot. If you don’t trust the pilot, why in heavens did you get on board? Detachment is Acceptance and Acceptance is Peace In essence, detachment means, you do your thing, and let God do His thing. Your job is to chose what you want, intend to have it, take the risks, and observe the results. If something works, do more of it. If something does not work, notice that too, and do less of it. You see, this take action-observation of results-and the changing of your approach is your dialogue between you and Higher Power. If you are caught into worry or lamenting why something did not turn up as exactly and you planned it is to become attached to a specific result instead of enjoying the experience of your personal and spiritual evolution in the way of character building as you face a disappointment, detach and start all over again with a refined and more enlightened approach. Those who detach and
accept operate under the premise that the universe was here and running
efficiently enough before he or she came into it, and whatever intelligence
created it and continues to operate it knows exactly what events ought
to happen and when. This freedom from worry (this peace of mind), comes
from a trust (belief) in something greater than one’s human self
that knows exactly what to do. There is even a famous prayer of detachment
know in the western world as the Serenity Prayer that goes like this:
